The East Coast Games, Atlantic Canada’s largest annual multi-sport games, are back for a 6th year after a two-year hiatus due to Covid restrictions. The games will be taking place in the Greater Saint John region from June 10th-12th 2022. The Games Organizing Committee is expecting the three-day event to include 13 different sporting events attracting nearly 1,600 athletes. This year the total number of athletes who have attended the East Coast Games will surpass over 10,000, which is a huge milestone and an outstanding accomplishment for this home-grown event.

The Organizing Committee is also pleased to announce the continued support of Presenting Sponsor, Emera New Brunswick. “Emera New Brunswick’s support has been invaluable to us in the development of these Games”, says Event Co-Chair, Bill MacMackin. “We truly appreciate this support of sport in our region and Emera New Brunswick’s continued involvement.”

“We are thrilled at the continued growth of the Games since we started, with the expansion of existing events as well as addition of new sports including, Badminton and Ball Hockey this year,” says Event Co-Chair Keith Raynes.” It is exciting to see tournaments expand into our regional communities and also the increase in participating sports. In the end it means that we are expanding the usage of our city fields, parks and arenas, which has a positive economic impact on our region.”

Since the creation of the Games in 2015, over 10,000 participants will have competed in the Games, with an economic impact of over $1,000,000 to the Greater Saint John Region. “These numbers would not be possible without the dedicated commitment of our sport directors and their many volunteers over the years”, says BIll MacMackin. “Through all their hard work, sport tourism continues to grow and helps to drive economic growth in our communities.”

The Games Organizing Committee will be posting information for each sport and other key tournament details on their website, so be sure to mark your calendars for June 10th-12th, to enjoy watching exciting sporting events and their athletes.
